  • Part of the motivation on writing my book was to document all details about this plagiarism, hoping that some day in the future I would had the financial resources to fight Business Week Magazine and get vindicated.
  • Therefore, in 1989 one decade after this travesty had been committed I started to collect all the documents and to prepare an analysis.  Two years later the oil fields in Kuwait were on fire . That is when I found the motivation to write an update to my original article of 1979.
  • But, I was working full time as Engineer, and did not have much time to dedicate to this. So, I wrote just three chapters.  Then added several appendices that allow me to insert those documents from the plagiarism suffered. Copies of this manuscript were sent to several Publishers (listing appears at the bottom of this page). The text of the letter included with the book is shown below this top frame.
  • I was hoping that they would ignore the shortcomings of the book and instead -perhaps a few Publishers- would focus on (a) the the unjust plagiarism done, or (b) the Author's deep understanding on energy issues.  After all, if any Publisher were to become interested, the incentive and financial help would be there to write more pages, and improve the semantics perhaps (under the supervision of an seasoned Writer recommended by the Publisher).
  • On the positive side, being the book concise -and very much illustrated with cut outs- it would be an easy and quick reading for the Publishers to review "pronto".  The topic was again very timely, due to -yet- another nascent crisis in the Middle East.
  • Unfortunately, no Publisher showed interest in publishing it.

Dear Publisher:

Included with this letter is a copy of my manuscript titled:

"ENERGY POLICY: The Scared Ostrich Symptom".

It is inedited, and I hope you will be interested in reviewing it. If interested in publishing it, I would like to hear from you at the earliest.

The intended readers are professionals interested in energy issues. Also -I am sure- it will appeal many other people.

About my credentials: I am including my Resume.

My mother tongue is Spanish, so I do not doubt that your editors will have to revise my semantics. To facilitate that process, the text of this book has been written with a word processing package (Word Perfect) and is available in diskette format.

This book describes how an article submitted in 1979 to a prestigious national magazine, was used -for its leads- to research further the topics covered in that article. Another quite similar article was generated by them, and no recognition whatsoever was given to the original author. That is plagiarism.

Also in this book I make un update of the energy issues that I dealt with in my 1979 article.

I hope to hear from you soon.

PS: Illustrations have been borrowed from other publications, and they are not indispensable, they can be replaced by 'public domain' pictures and graphs. I could -also- provide computer recreations of some of those graphs and illustrations if the need calls for that.

In some APPENDIX articles are shown. Again, they are not indispensable for the subject matter, and if permission to reprint them is not given then they could be withdrawn or -just- referenced.
